When You Think Happiness

Yeah, the song inspired this drawing. My mom got the CD for Christmas, and I was listening to it. Immediately, that line made me think of Gwen and Kevin lying on his car hood together.

As I told ~j9y, this drawing has several different versions. I forgot to include, when I spoke to her, the original. So, I have that one, a dark one, and this blue one. She helped me decide if it would be a starry night or dusk. If you're wondering, I chose the bluer picture so Kevin's shirt didn't blend into the windshield and hair. Where it was probably more realistic that way, I wanted everyone to see the hours I put into this drawing rather than hide them.

Two things I suck at: drawing cars and perspective. So, why did i think it was a good idea to have both in one picture? I don't know. I just liked the thought of them cuddled together on the Challenger. As I also told ~j9y, I think this is so cute that I could explode.

Kevin isn't asleep, although it REALLY looks that way. He's supposed to be looking down at Gwen lying on him. He may also be stressing over the fact that they're on the hood of his car and might scratch the paint, especially since she is angled towards... sorry, I don't know what that piece in the middle of the hood is called.

I used references from the Alien Swarm movie as well as barbies that are fully posable to get the pose.

I would estimate this took about five hours. The Challenger is what gave me the most trouble, and it still isn't right — the passenger side is too short in comparison to the driver's side. I just got tired of fooling with the thing and definitely won't go back and try to fix it later. I'm happy with how it looks, even being wrong. XD That, and I'm cranky at being up at 5:30 in the morning having been up since about 9:30 the previous morning.
